HELiFOAM™
Direct Injection Helicopter Bucket Delivery System
Fire & Rescue New Zealand in partnership with Orion Safety Industries Pty Ltd is pleased to introduce the next generation in Helicopter Class A Foam bucket delivery systems.
The HELiFOAM™ unit is a self-contained electronically controlled Class A Foam Direct Injection Delivery System, designed to be operated with the HELiFIRE Monsoon Bucket and fixed wing fire bombing aircraft in Australia and New Zealand. |
Used in conjunction with the HELiFIRE Monsoon™ Bucket, the HELiFOAM™ Class A Foam Direct Injection System makes water 5 times more effective when dropped from fixed or rotary wing aircraft, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the wetting and penetrating characteristics of the water to reduce the combustibility of Class A fuels. |
Easy to Use – The HELiFOAM™ Direct Injection System is the simplest Class A Foam metering system to set up and use available in Australasia. Installation is simple, set up is made easy by the use of two electrical and one ARO quick disconnect couplings, and a self-contained spill proof stowage container which can be mounted onboard the aircraft. |
Control Panel — The HELiFOAM™ Injection System Control Unit can be mounted temporarily within the cockpit or mounted permanently as an in-panel unit with the advantage of having a convenient standby switch available at cyclic lets the Pilot dose the HELiFIRE Monsoon™ Bucket or Hooper as needed without losing the horizon. |
Storage — The HELiFOAM™ Foam injection system is secured within the seat well of a R44 or cargo area of the helicopter, and a delivery hose is connected to and runs from the HELiFOAM™ unit down the strop into the Monsoon Bucket or Hopper to dispense the foam concentrate.
It is designed to eliminate any potential spillage by transferring Class A Foam concentrate directly from the original 20 litre foam pail supplied by DOC or the Rural Fire Authority and is mounted onboard the helicopter or fixed wing aircraft in a spill proof housing. |
System Integration — The fully integrated HELiFOAM™ system is easy to operate and requires low maintenance. The HELiMIX® unit mounts in the rear seat frame of a R44 or can be conveniently stationed inside the helicopter with the advantage of having the controller available at cyclic and a discharge hose extending down the strop into the bucket. |
FOAM CONCENTRATE — Normally stored in 20 litre plastic drum that is mounted inside the the spill proof HELiFOAM™ unit. Foam is drawn out of the drum by a probe and hose that is fitted to a vented filled cap on the drum through the inlet side of the HELiFOAM™ unit.
When Class A Foam is proportioned with water, it changes the properties of the water, reducing surface tension and allowing for greater penetration in all Class A fuels at rural fires. In simple terms Class A Foam gives water a foaming ability, allowing it to remain and cling to the surfaces without run off. |
Operation — After filling the Monsoon Bucket or Hopper, the pilot simply presses the dispense switch and the HELiFOAM™ Direct Injection Delivery System automatically dispenses a preset quantity of Class A Foam concentrate directly into the Monsoon Bucket or Hopper, adjustable from 0.1 to 3 litres in 0.1 litre increments at the desired (0.1% to 1.0%) percentage, creating the desired pre-mixed and proportioned solution from 0.1% to 1.0% of fresh, brackish or sea water. |
VERSATILE — The HELiFOAM™ Direct Injection Helicopter Bucket Delivery System offers what no other automatic Class A Foam metering system can offer for the same price. |
